Tree and Limb Disposal Options |
(February 15, 2010) Following the recent record snowfall, the City of Waxahachie has temporarily expanded services at the Citizens Convenience Station in an effort to help local residents and businesses dispose of broken trees and limbs.
The Citizens' Convenience Station, located at 499 Lions Park Road, will temporarily allow commercial businesses and tree services that are located within the city limits to dispose of trees and limbs that are generated within the city limits. The temporary period will run until February 27, 2010, and the pricing is as follows:
Load Size----City Business (w/proof of residency)---City Business(w/o)
8 cubic yds $15.00 $30.00
10 cubic yds $20.00 $40.00
12 cubic yds $25.00 $50.00
14 cubic yds $30.00 $60.00
16 cubic yds $35.00 $70.00
18 cubic yds $40.00 $80.00
20 cubic yds $45.00 $90.00
Residential customers may also bring broken limbs and trees to the station, and will be free of charge with proof of residency (current water bill). "Normally, the Citizens' Convenience Station is only open to residential customers," said Sonny Wilson, Director of Environmental Health. "The city wanted to expand services following the snowstorm to help make the cleanup efforts as easy as possibly on everyone, including individuals and businesses," said Wilson. He also added that the prices set for businesses using the convenience station are greatly discounted from the station's normal non-resident rates.
Also included in the expanded services are churches located within the city limits, which may also dispose of limbs at the Citizens Convenience Station free of charge.
Hours of operation for the convenience station are Tuesday through Saturday, 8am-4pm.
Another option for residential customers is to arrange pickup of limbs with IESI, the city's garbage collection provider. Residential garbage customers are allowed 4 large pickups per year, at 6 cubic yards each. If the amount is greater than 6 cubic yards, it may still be picked up, but will count toward the yearly allotment. For example, if 18 cubic yards are pick up, one more pickup for the year is still allowed. To arrange pickup of limbs, please call IESI at 972-937-8836.
"We do feel that these options will be helpful to our citizens in clearing the brush after last week's storm, and we appreciate the patience of our residents while we work through the clean up process," said Wilson.
For questions regarding the removal of trees and limbs, please call the city at 972-937-7330, ext. 151.
